The East Kootenay Region of British Columbia is one of the few places sportsman can hunt Elk during the rut in the archery and rifle season and is home to some of the very best wilderness elk hunting in North America. Our Elk population is strong and increasing due to the six point regulation B.C Fish and Wildlife has in place. This allows bulls to reach full maturity, trophy quality and has resulted in a steady increase in the number of trophy bulls in our hunting area. September and early October is the best time to hunt elk as this is in the prime rut when the bulls are bugling. True Elk Hunter’s will appreciate this experience in hopes of a big bull coming in to investigate. You will be hunting country that is wild as it is beautiful in search of these majestic trophies.
We have permanent structure spike camps located in remote areas of our territory that are well maintained and comfortably accommodate hunters and their guide. Horses are very useful in this rugged terrain and highly recommended for transportation into our remote hunting areas. It is in the hunter’s best interest to be prepared both physically and mentally for challenging stalks as big mature bulls are often found at high elevations.
Mature bulls in our area average 280″ to 330″ class with 330″ plus class bulls always a possibility. Hunters can combine their Elk hunt with Mountain Goat, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Black Bear and/or Wolf. This hunt is a wilderness experience you will cherish and not soon forget so join us for the hunt of a lifetime.
