In 1997, the Kootenay regional manager took steps to increase the Kootenay Mule Deer population. Average bucks harvested are generally in the 140″ to 180″ however there is always a chance for that monster trophy 200″ class buck.
This is a true wilderness hunt for these old “timberline mossbacks” we all dream about. Mule Deer is a great early season species to hunt during your Elk hunt or Goat hunt as they are found in the same terrain. If
your main goal is for a trophy buck then a late season mid – November hunt will be better as the Mule Deer begin their migration route down to specific lower elevations and are in full rut.
