Rusa stags are hunted on an extensive 125,000 acre hunting ranch on the Great Dividing Range in Central Queensland. The varied terrain including swampy grass lands lends itself to the Rusa being hunted mainly on foot.
The rut is usually from the end of June through mid- August. During this time the Rusa can get quite vocal with its roars and aggressive towards other stags. Often they will mark their territory with scrapes and rubs.
Fallow deer, Axis deer, Sambar deer, Red deer, Dingo and Scrub Cattle are also available to be hunted at this property.
Season for the Rusa is May through mid-December, with the rut being the peak during late June and July.
